Care for older people

Live-in care becomes a perfect alternative to residential care, especially if your loving person wants to age in familiar environment.

It’s natural to want to stay at home as you grow older. However, taking a step back to look at the big picture can help you decide whether staying at home for the long term truly is the right step for you. Take a look at your options, your budget, and some of the alternatives.

Our company is committed to developing innovative programs and expanding services, such as providing transportation for our nurses to enable us to serve hard-to-reach areas and a shopping service for our patients who are unable to shop for themselves.

Our goal is to enable the physically challenged, the elderly in need, the patient recovering from an illness or accident, and others confined to their homes to maintain their independence.

Education of our entire staff is constant through our special in-service courses. Our commitment to excellence continues through our comprehensive curriculum, skills validation, and mandatory continuing education program.

Dementia support

As you may already know, dementia can be a challenging condition to live with whether you are the person with the condition or your love one that has it. Every day is different and the care and support required can vary challenging from day-to-day. In addition to this, caring for someone with dementia requires specialist communication, behavioural skills and routine to ensure identity is maintained and dignity preserved. At Livingstone Health Care we believe that everybody has the right to live the fullest life available to them, and we work hard to enable our clients with dementia to continue living their chosen lifestyle safely and for as long as possible. Through flexible, tailored care we encourage clients to carry out their daily tasks to the best of their abilities and support them in doing so rather than ‘taking control’. This helps maintain a sense of independence and control that is so important, and can make a big difference to their quality of life. Although our dementia care is tailored to meet each person’s specific needs our most commonly requested services are:
  • Personal care and support
  • Respite care for family members, including live-in or night care
  • Assistance in participating in the local community through visits to libraries, places of worship, leisure centres or shopping
  • Maintenance of current skills and teaching of new communication techniques
  • Assistance to keep up hobbies such as music, crafts, exercise, cooking and gardening Our dedicated dementia care staff undergo specialist training in Dementia Awareness and Dementia Care, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and understanding of each stage of Dementia condition. Reablement/ short term care

Sometimes people just need a short-term package of care. Whether it is to support you during a short period of illness, helping you to get back on your feet following an operation, or even to help build your confidence after a fall. We can design a highly personalised care package to reable you or your loved one back to full health and independence. Whether you need support with your personal care requirements or daily living activities, Livingstone Health Care can help. Our specialist reablement teams work alongside healthcare professionals to make your transition from hospital to home as smooth as possible. Our reablement service is flexible, meaning the level of support you receive can be adjusted to meet your changing requirements.
